Putting off Hijab during mixed PE lessons

Question:

I have a question about wearing the Hijaab at school. I'm a 17-year-old girl attending grammar school in Germany. I want to start wearing the Hijaab now and it wouldn't be a big problem but what worries me is the PE lessons at school. I have to do PE with the boys together (there are only mixed schools here) but I surely wouldn't be able to wear the Hijaab there. Should I put it off during PE or ask the principal about a compromise? Maybe I should mention that Muslims are given a very hard time in Germany.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

You are not allowed to remove your Hijab for the reason you mentioned. You have to convince the school management that religiously you can not uncover yourself. If they do not approve then you have to move to another school where your religion is respected or continue the study from home. See Fataawa 90143 and 83135.

Allaah Knows best.
