The ruling of discharges accompanied by blood during breastfeeding

Question:

I breastfeed my baby for nine months, and since I gave birth, I had no menses. However, since many days, I started having some discharges accompanied with some blood, but it is only once or twice daily, so do I consider this as menses and wait till it completely stops, or should I consider it as bleeding outside the monthly periods and perform the prayer?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

These discharges that you have are not menses, so you should perform the prayer and all other religious obligations applicable to women in a state of purity as long as you do not have your monthly periods distinguished by their colour and smell.

Allaah Knows best.
