Question:

What is the fate of the devil companion and the two appointed angels after the death of the person?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

It is not possible to be absolutely certain about this matter except if there is a text which determines it, as this is something related to the matters of the unseen which cannot be confirmed except by revelation. It appears that the devil companion and the two appointed angels after the death of the person will go to wherever Allaah wills.

Some scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them stated that the two appointed angels of a believer, will sit at his grave and seek forgiveness for him and mention Allaah, and this will be written for the dead. However, some other scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them stated that they will be appointed to another person, but we do not know any evidence which proves this opinion or the previous one. Therefore, it is more appropriate not to address this matter until we find an evidence from the texts of revelation.

Finally, we advise all the brothers to concern themselves with matters that necessitate an action by which one gets closer to Allaah.

Allaah Knows best.
