Can a disobedient person see the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, in a dream?

Question:

Last week I saw in a dream that I was performing the prayer and when I finished, I started reciting the Quran, memorizing and looking for some verses but I did not know in which chapter they were. So I asked a man and he referred me to another man and he said that is the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, so go ask him; I went to him and I found myself in front of a medium height man who had a thick black beard.
I am a Muslim and I believe in the Oneness of Allaah and I perform all religious obligations, all perfect praise be to Allaah, but I am a disobedient man, I do not commit major sins, but I commit minor sins, like listening to music and teaching women. Is it possible for me to see the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam, in a dream and is this dream real?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Seeing the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in a dream is possible but when it happens, one sees him sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in his actual image as the devil can not take his image. It is not a condition that seeing the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in a dream only happens to a pious and obedient person. This dream could either be a warning or a glad tiding for you, so that you would stop committing the sins that you mentioned and stick to the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and his right path. Finally, it should be noted that persisting on a minor sin renders it a major sin.

Allaah Knows best.
