Question:

What is the classification of the following narration: "Take half of your religion from this little whitish woman"?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

The narration: "Take half of your religion from this little whitish woman.", is not authentic. Imaam Ash-Shawkaani may Allaah have mercy upon him in his book entitled 'the general benefits in the weak and fabricated narrations' said: 'Ibn Hajar may Allaah have mercy upon him said: "The chain of narrators for the narration: "Take half of your religion from this little reddish woman.", is unknown, and I have not found this narration in any of the books of Prophetic narrations, except in the book of An-Nihaayah written by Ibn Katheer, and Al-Firdaws, without any chain of narrators. Moreover, Al-Mizzi and Ath-Thahabi may Allaah have mercy upon them were asked about this narration and they replied that they did not know it, and this is mentioned in the book Al-Maqaasid.'

Allaah Knows best.
