The ruling of deliberately despising the name of Allaah written in a language other than Arabic

Question:

What is the ruling regarding shopping bags which has the name of Allaah written on it in English, like Fathalla?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Writing the name of Allaah on bags has to be looked at from two angles:

1-     The ruling of this writing: there is no harm in this as long as it is not known that these bags will be despised and thrown.

2-     The ruling of despising these bags by throwing them in the bin, or putting them in inappropriate places: This is forbidden whether the writing is in Arabic, or in English, or in any other language. Whoever knows that this has the name of Allaah, it is forbidden for him to despise it by throwing it in the bin or putting it in inappropriate places. Rather, deliberately despising the name of Allaah is disbelieving in Him.

Allaah Knows best.
