Having a false document to get an allowance from the government

Question:

Asselamu aleikum!I'm pregnant and I'd like to receive money for my baby.But here to receive such money I've to work somewhere.So I asked the boss of a shop to give me a document that I'm working in his shop which is not true.He did it only to get the money from the state.Is this lawful?Or such money are haram to me?Thank you in advance

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

It is not permissible for you to obtain this benefit [social allowance] in this way as it is cheating and contravening the condition of getting this allowance, and the Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) said: "The one who cheats is not from us." [Muslim] The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) further said: "The Muslims should fulfil their conditions in what is permissible." [At-Tabaraani]

Therefore, if you are really in need of this allowance, you should approach the official institutions and charity organizations or generous and merciful people and explain to them how much you are in need without cheating or forging, and you will surely find a benefactor who would help you, Allaah willing.
