Question:

I heard many people saying that husband is "Imaginary God " of wife . In Islam,Is it permitted to declare husband as Imaginary God ? Second question is regarding to games like Cards, Chess and Luddo(which is played by dices) . Does Islam allow us to play Chess, Cards and Luddo ?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Saying that “the husband is an imaginary God for his wife” has no evidence in religion and it is absolutely not permissible to say this expression even with a good intention, as it suggests an evil and impermissible meaning.

There is no doubt that, in Islam, a husband has a great right on his wife, in this regard, please refer to Fataawa 90033 and 87980.

As regards playing card games, we have already clarified the ruling in Fataawa 85189 and 82956, and the ruling of playing chess is mentioned in Fatwa 89002, and playing with dices is discussed in Fatwa 91109; so please refer to them.

Allaah Knows best.
