Wife refusing to travel abroad with her husband

Question:

Asselamu aleikum!A friend of mine needs of your help.Her husband was studying abroad and wanted from her to go there.But she refused and she wants to know if she done a sin,cause he was displeased with her and wanted divorce.Thank you in advance

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

 

If this woman has no sound reason for refusing to travel with her husband, then she is sinful by not obeying him and travelling with him. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 84856.

However, it should be noted that the husband should not hasten to divorce his wife just because she is disobedient until he exhausts all the means of reconciliation and follows the steps in dealing with a disobedient wife which are mentioned in Fatwa 89480.
