Question:

Is there a Hadeeth attributed to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam, in which he warns against consuming meat frequently?

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Him, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

This is not a Hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, but rather, a saying attributed to ‘Umar ibn Al-Khattaab may Allaah be pleased with him in which he said that meat has a similar effect to that of alcohol. As explained by An-Nawawi and Al-Manawi may Allaah have mercy upon them this means that if a person acquires a fondness for eating meat, he will not be able to break this habit, like an alcoholic.

Allaah Knows best.
