
On the 8th day of Thul-Hijjah, the pilgrim should put on his Ihraam and head for Makkah. Upon reaching the Ka'bah, he/she makes Tawaaf (circumambulating the Ka'bah seven times) and Sa'y (seven circuits between As-Safa and Al-Marwah). Then he heads for Mina where he spends the whole day and night involved in Du'aa' (supplication), Thikr (remembering Allaah) etc, and preparing himself to set out to ‘Arafah. He prays Thuhr (noon) and 'Asr (afternoon) prayers shortened to two Rak'ahs (units of prayer) each, Maghrib (sunset) three Rak'ahs and 'Ishaa' shortened to two.

Abtah: A place formed after flood, which is usually level and containing no pebbles or stones. The term is given to every place that becomes leveled by a water stream. It is also Al-Abtah, Al-Bat-haa’ and Al-Bat-h. Bat-haa’ refers to a place between Makkah and Mina, which is called as such due to its level wide valley.
