At least 116 people were killed by regime forces in fighting across Syria during the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, opposition activists have said.

The deaths included 21 children and 16 women, according to the London-based Syrian Network for Human Rights.

According to a statement from the group, the three-day festivities to mark the end of Ramadan saw attacks in Aleppo, Deraa and Idlib.

Syria has been gripped by violence since the regime launched a crackdown in response to anti-government protests in March 2011. The network said 126,534 have been killed since.
