Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

According to the most preponderant opinion, the congregational prayer is an obligation on pubescent men except due to a sound excuse. Therefore, it is not permissible for you to deliberately abandon the congregational prayer unless you have a sound reason for abandoning it.

Moreover, it is not an obligation for the congregational prayer to be held in the mosque according to the view of the majority of the scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them. Therefore, if you are able to perform the congregational prayer at another place than the mosque, it is an obligation on you to do so. But if you are not able to perform the congregational prayer in the mosque or anywhere else or that you fear to be financially harmed or lose a property you are employed to guard, then you are allowed to abandon the congregational prayer and pray alone.

However, we advise you to be keen to perform the prayer in congregation as it is of great excellence, and you should try to combine between your work circumstances and transportation timings in a way to preserve the congregational prayer and if you are unable to do so, then Allaah does not burden a soul beyond its scope.

Allaah Knows best.
