Sex with pregnant wife |

Question
I was reading different Fatwa's at Fatwa Center and I came across the following Hadith: Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "No one should have sexual intercourse with a pregnant woman till she gives birth to a child" . [ Abu Dawood and al-Hakim the latter said that this Hadith is sound].
This was in your Fatwa: 88439. I want to know if this Hadith means that a husband cannot have sex with his wife if she is pregnant until she gives birth to a child? Please explain in detail as if there are any other limitations for a husband while the wife is pregnant.

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the World; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.
The Hadith reads: "It is not lawful for a person to have sexual intercourse with a pregnant woman till she gives birth" . This is reported in books of Sunan and Imam al-Hakim graded it as sound. There are other Hadith with this meaning in one of them the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "It is not permissible for one who believes in Allah and the Last Day to irrigate with his water the other's child" . i.e. one should not have sex with a woman who is pregnant from another man.
A Hadith in Sahih Muslim states that one of the companions of the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) intended to have sex with a pregnant captive woman, he said: "I wanted to invoke a curse upon him that will stick to him even in his grave. How can he make the child his heir while he does not belong to him; how can he use him while he is not lawful for him" .
Dear questioner, all the above Hadith do not apply to having sex with one's wife; all these and similar Hadith relate to a pregnant woman who is divorced or a captive. It is not permissible for anyone to have sex with such a woman with the exception of her husband.
In brief, a husband can have sex with his pregnant wife. But, if any harm may come to her, especially in the last weeks of her pregnancy as advised by doctors, then one should avoid it. Know that Shari'a does not approve any kind of harm.
