But i need to do a wazifa for my mom to agree. well if it is good then why must my mom agree? Please advice on this.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.{C}

If what is meant in the question is the Sufi Shaykhs, then these people follow the Sufi path that is based on many superstitions and innovations, some among which take a person out of the fold of Islam, and some do not. It may also be that the Shaykh among them is a Taaghoot (worshipped beside Allaah), while he knows and is pleased with it.

As regards the wise people, if this is a description of the people who practise magic, then the matter is the same as we have already mentioned (about the Sufi Shaykhs). However, it should be noted that this term might sometimes refer to those who treat people with permissible medicines, like herbal medicine and the like, and this is permissible.

However, the person whom you mentioned in the question and who claims to know the truth and who told you what you mentioned in the question is a magician. What proves this is that he asked you about the name of your mother and not the name of your father, and this is what the magicians often do, in addition to him foretelling the unseen. Therefore, you should avoid him and not go to him, let alone believing in what he says, as this is forbidden by the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ); for more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 91547.

Indeed, Islam legislated in marriage or in any other good matter, to seek the advice of experienced people and perform the Istikhaarah prayer to seek the guidance of Allaah who is the All-Knower, the All-Wise. For more benefit on Istikhaarah, please refer to Fatwa 81434.

As regards the consent of the mother, this is required even if the person who proposes to the girl is suitable and competent. If the mother does not agree to the marriage of her daughter to a specific man, then the daughter is obliged to obey her, because it is an obligation to obey her in what is permissible but it is not an obligation for a daughter to marry a specific man.

This is in case the daughter is not harmed by not marrying that man, but if she will be harmed, then it is not an obligation to obey the mother in this case for two reasons:

1- The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: There should be no harm nor reciprocal harm.” [Maalik]

2- Obedience should be only in what is permissible because the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: Obedience is required only in what is permissible.” And it is not permissible for a person to accept something that harms him/her.

Allaah Knows best.
