Ruling on a Christian woman marrying a Muslim Man

Question

Hi I'm a catholic girl and I fell in love with a Muslim man who I work with. I had an ex-boyfriend before I met this Muslim man. I'm still a virgin as I haven't gone to the extent of sex, however, I engaged in oral sex with my ex but that was also before I met the man I'm in love with now. I haven't engaged in any sexual activity for the past 2 years with another person since then. I'm deeply in love with the Muslim man and we spoke about marriage and how I can still practice my religion without converting. I just want to know whether it will be a sin for him to marry me considering my past even if I didn't know I'd fall in love with a Muslim man. Even if I repent as a catholic will it be null and void?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

Islam allows a Muslim man to marry a woman from the People of the Book (i.e., a Jewish or Christian) if she is chaste. Accordingly, if you have really given up practicing any act that violates your chastity, and you truly regret what happened to you in the past, and you have resolved firmly not to repeat these actions, then there is no sin on this Muslim man in marrying you, and what happened to you with the previous man does not prevent him from marrying you as long as you gave up and regretted it.

We ask Allah to bless you with guidance and success and to open your heart to Islam.

Allah knows best.
