Question
Due to some problems I went to a psychic last year but now I have promised myself to not go back and have asked Allaah for forgiveness, but whenever I am praying (Du'a) after Salah, and when I'm asking Allaah for a solution for that particular problem that psychic comes into my mind, and my whole thought get shift to her sayings then usually I say Istighfar and continue with my prayer but that lady sayings is still in mind somewhere. I am afraid that my prayers will not b answered until I am successful in controlling my thoughts.
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.
We have said in our previous Fatwa: 89807 that going to psychics is forbidden since it is just like going to fortune tellers. So, whoever goes to them has to repent to Allaah.
Repentance eradicates all the past sins, so you should not pay any attention to the bad thoughts that prevent you from supplications or prayers. Whenever such thoughts come to your mind you have to seek refuge in Allaah, neglect them and busy yourself in supplicating.
We ask Allaah to protect you from that thoughts and cure you from what befell on you, sooner not later.
