Allaah forbade dead meat because of its harm on the religion and body of the person

Question

What is the wisdom of forbidding dead meat?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

Allaah informed us in His Book that He permits what is lawful and forbids all evil and bad things. Moreover, among one of the Islamic religion principles is that one ‘should not harm himself and should not cause any harm to others’.

Therefore, anything that causes any harm is forbidden in Islam, as a Mercy from Allaah to His Slaves. Therefore, Allaah forbade dead meat because of its harm; that is because of the congested blood [that remains in it], so it is harmful to the religion and body of the person, and this is why Allaah forbade it.

Allaah Knows best.
