The wisdom behind repeating some stories in the Quran

Question

What is the wisdom of the repetition of the story or ‘Aad, Thamood, and the guests of Ibraaheem, may Allaah exalt his mention, in the Quran?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad is His Slave and Messenger may Allaah exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

The Quran has the best form of rhetoric and its miracles are a strong challenge, and it contains the most beneficial structures of eloquence. That is why the same story is repeated many times. In a point of view of rhetoric, it emphasizes the same meaning with different ways and different structures while using the most eloquent and rhetorical expressions.

As regards its miracle, it gives the same meaning in different ways and forms while the Arabs were unable to bring a structure like it with the same rhetoric and eloquence. It should be noted that the Arabs at that time were genius in rhetoric and very fluent, they excelled all other languages in the world in poetry and prose.

In regard to its eloquence and rhetoric, the repetition of the same story attracts people's attention and urges them to give it great consideration. This style pushes people to take heed and it engraves the story in their heart and mind, because when something is repeated, it is accepted and learnt. Among other wisdoms in repeating the same story in different chapters is that each context corresponds with the chapter in which it is mentioned, with regard to the length of the text, its shortness, its redundancy and its conciseness and so forth.

Allaah Knows best.
