Question

Salaam Alaykum sheikh, There is a Pakistani man named Amir liaqat Hussein who is a well speaker on Islam and vice information. My parents use to watch his lectures very eagerly but I feel his sayings are fabricated sometimes. He says that Yazeed (who killed Hussein) is being tormented with half of the pain as a whole of hell dwellers in Hell fire and the remaining half is tormenting the entire hell dwellers. Is he correct? He also says that grapes were created during the time of Prophet Noah (Pbuh) when the satan settled this plant with the use of blood of tiger, fox and pig and when Prophet Noah (Pbuh) poured water in the plant then grapes turned to be sweet and he also says that whenever a person drinks alcohol he becomes smart as a fox, brave as a tiger and his character becomes that of a pig which makes his personality low. Is that true? Finally, my main question is that should we continue watching his programs on Tv or internet? Please reply sir, we are confused with this man and his opinions. Jazaak ALLAHu Kahir.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

We do not know anything about this man, but with regard to these statements that are attributed to him, be it about Yazeed Ibn Mu’aawiyah, or the origin of the creation of grapes, or the person who consumes intoxicants, then we have not come across any source in the Sharee’ah about all these matters. Rather, they are nothing but lies and superstitions. These matters cannot be said by a man who can be called a Daa’iyah (a caller to Allaah). Therefore, if these statements are really attributed to this man, then it is not permissible to listen to him especially by the general public who cannot distinguish the truth from falsehood.

If a Muslim speaks about the Religion of Allaah, he should speak with knowledge, because it is very serious to attribute to religion that which is not part of it. Allaah Says (what means): {Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allaah will not succeed.}[Quran 16:116-117]

Moreover, it is confirmed that the Prophet said: “Telling a lie about me is not like telling a lie about anyone else; whoever deliberately tells a lie about me, let him have his place in Hellfire.” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Allaah Knows best.
