Action towards food that contains a magic spell
Fatwa No: 34049

Question

I have some cooking oil that I suspect contains a black magic spell. How can I undo the spell?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

If there is evidence suggesting that this oil contains a magic spell,  it is impermissible to use it so you can safeguard yourself from its evil. Indeed Sharee'ah (Islamic law) texts prohibit bringing evil on oneself. Referring to this, it was reported that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, forbade Muslims from harming themselves or harming others. [Ahmad, Ibn Maajah and Maalik]

As the results of using the Quran and the prescribed supplications to undo the magic spell are not tangible, it might lead a person to think that the spell has been undone when it has not,  it is better to avoid using this oil. Thanks to Allaah The Almighty, edible oil is  easily available and found in abundance everywhere.

Allaah Knows best.
