Saying that Someone is Playing with Islam
Fatwa No: 372658

Question

Salam. When it is appropriate to say to someone that they are playing with Islam? Is it true that whatever is halal and haram has to play in each person's life? Islam is a way of life that per individual has to obey by?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

This heinous description, which is playing with the religion, is only said about someone who takes the Signs and Verses of Allah in ridicule, and makes his desires decide what to do and what not to do instead of the Religion, and does not refer to the Sharee’ah for judgement.

It is also said about one who uses false trickery to invalidate the rulings of Allah, or someone who issues Fataawa according to his desires and whims, or other examples which prove that the doer does not honor the sacred ordinances of Allah and is indifferent about the religion.

Every Muslim must live his life according to the Sharee'ah of Allah. He should not do except that which Allah has permitted, and should avoid that which Allah has forbidden. Therefore, all his actions should be in conformity with what Allah has legislated in order for him to rejoice in this worldly life and to rescue himself in the Hereafter.

Allah knows best.
