Inheritance of 3 Sons and 1 Daughter Fatwa No: 522625
- Fatwa Date:3-12-2025
we are three brothers and one sister (all adults and married). Our father left a property worth Rs. 7500000 . What will be the share of each brother and sister ?
All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.
Assuming that the deceased has only three sons and one daughter as heirs, and that the deceased has no debts and no will, the inheritance would be divided among the four children, giving the male twice the share of the female as per the words of Allah (which means): {Allah commands you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females.} [Quran 4:11] From this, we can conclude that the estate would be divided into seven parts: each son receives two shares, and the daughter receives one share.
Heir Shares Inheritance Amount (₹)
Son 1 2 2,142,857.14
Son 2 2 2,142,857.14
Son 3 2 2,142,857.14
Daughter 1 1,071,428.57
Total 7 7,500,000
Lastly, we would like to draw the attention of the esteemed questioner to the fact that inheritance matters are very serious. Therefore, one cannot rely solely on a fatwa issued in response to a question. It is necessary for the matter to be submitted to the competent authorities so that they can review and verify it. There may be heirs who are only discovered after investigation, or there may be wills, debts, or other rights unknown to the heirs.
Allah knows best.
