Struggling for an Islamic State
Fatwa No: 82136

Question

We are mujahideen of Darul Islam (struggling for an Islamic state in Indonesia). How would you consider us within the Indonesian Muslim society and the official government of Indonesia?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

You should fulfill the obligation of Da'wah to Almighty Allah with wisdom, and good admonition while giving a good example. You should clarify to the people in private and in general that happiness in this worldly life and in the Hereafter, and the solution to all political, economical, and social problems are impossible without complete compliance with the law of Allah and complete submission to its application to all fields of life.

As callers to this methodology, you should be truthful and sincere, and your actions and conduct should be in accordance with what you call for and what you say. A successful preacher of Islam is the one who is truthful in his words and his deeds. It is also your duty to make Da'wah and to set up Islamic institutions in the field of education, economy, relief and funding, and to take full advantage of the freedom granted to you.

In this way, with the help of Allah, you will be successful in all your tasks and victorious on the battlefield. Then you will be able to convince people and attract them, guiding them to the right path.

We remind you that the enemies of Islam like to destabilize the peace and prosperity of any prosperous Muslim territory and you must prevent them from doing that.

You must also prove to your country and your people that you are responsible people, not traitors or people who inspire trouble as the enemies of Islam like to portray you; rather, you are part of this community. So, fulfill your institutional and political rights and keep your Muslim identity intact through all legal means with intelligence and good planning.

Allah knows best.
