Chatting on Internet

Question

It happened that I met a guy over the Internet. He is kind, religious, very perfect guy, and he taught me many things about Islam that I didn't know. After a while he chose me to be his future partner and I accepted. But it’s too early to tell my parents because I am waiting to finish college. Is it wrong to keep talking as long as we are not taking about what is forbidden, or wrong path, or doing or talking about anything that is forbidden?
We both are serious to know because we don't want to be in the wrong path. We are trying as much as we can to be close to Allah by all our deeds.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

It is forbidden to continue talking with each other as long as there is no need. Because continuing to talk for no need may lead to making an appointment to meet, talking face to face, and exchanging glances; and this is forbidden. Such a situation may also lead to committing Zina (fornication and/or adultery); we seek refuge in Allah from this.

Thus, we advise you stop such a relationship until Allah Almighty, makes it easy for you to marry.

We ask Allah to help all of us to follow His Orders and the Sunnah of His Messenger .
