Fatwa No: 92701

Question

peace be upon you ; I do want to ask you some questions : 1. is it true that our prophet's mother is in hell ? and why ? 2. can you please the exact way of prayer for el mathheb el maliki : how exactly imam malik was praying and how did he justify some performances that differ from other mathaheb? thanks and jazaakoum allahou 5ayran

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger. We ask Allaah to exalt his mention as well as that of his family and all his companions.

We have already issued Fatwa parents and their fate">85906 about the fate of the parents of the Prophet as confirmed by the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of the Prophet so please refer to it.

As regards your second question about the method of the prayer according to the Maaliki School of jurisprudence, and their evidence about it, then this is a matter which requires a very long answer. However, a Muslim is required to follow the Prophet and not follow other people. Indeed, the Prophet said: "Pray as you see me praying." [Al-Bukhari] Furthermore, on the Day of Judgement, a Muslim will be asked to what extent he answered (and was obedient to) his Prophet .

Allaah Says (what means): {And (remember) the Day (Allaah) will call to them, and say: "What answer gave you to the Messengers?"}[Quran 28:65]. Therefore, a Muslim should be keen to learn the method of the prayer as performed by the Prophet so that he will follow his example. For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 85270.

Finally, just in order to please you, we refer you to an issue which is the most well-known one in which some scholars in the Maaliki School of jurisprudence differed with other Schools of jurisprudence, which is the issue of releasing the hands during the prayer (not putting the right hand over the left on the chest); this matter is discussed in Fatwa 86369, so please refer to it.

Allaah Knows best.
