Question:

Assalamo alaikom, I married a converted Muslim. While we were married he used to chat with another woman from my country. I asked them to stop, but both were very attached to each other. She invited him to visit her. Their relationship became stronger, so he divorced me and he marry her, because he said he is not happy with me. I have a child with him. I feel sad and depressed because I loved him and I did everything to make him happy. When I read that man has the right to divorce his wife if he is not happy with her and he has the right to marry the woman he loves, I taught if man can marry and divorce whenever he desire then what about our feeling and our efforts. So my question is, Allah soubhanaho wataala will punish this woman because, she destroyed my family? And what about him, is he sinner? Is his reason to divorce is accepted. She was also mean to me and she sent an email abusing me. They both transgress me. Note he was married two times before he marries me and this is his fourth wife. He also stopped praying for a long time, but then he started to pray when he proposed to her. Can I pray against them because what they cause me of pain and destruction? Jazakoum Allaho Khayran.

Answer:

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

The relationship between your husband and that woman before their marriage was a forbidden relationship, and if that woman spoilt the marital relationship between him and you and she endeavored to make him divorce you, then she is even more sinful. Abu Hurayrah may Allaah be pleased with him narrated that the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “He is not one of us he who incited a woman against her husband.” [Ahmad and Abu Daawood]

The scholars may Allaah have mercy upon them said: “It means he incited her by beautifying for her the enmity of her husband….and the same thing applies to inciting a husband against his wife.”

If what you mentioned is true that that woman sent you a letter abusing you, then she is also sinful for doing so. The same thing applies to your husband if he transgressed against you.

As regards a husband divorcing his wife, then it is disliked if there is no valid reason for it. If there is a valid reason, it is permissible. If your husband feels that he is not happy with you, then he is permitted to divorce you, and it might be good for you; you never know. Perhaps Allaah wanted good for you by your husband divorcing you; Allaah Says (what means): {But if they separate [by divorce], Allaah will enrich each [of them] from His abundance. And ever is Allaah Encompassing and Wise.}[Quran 4:130]

It might be that Allaah will bless you with a pious husband who abides by the rulings of the Sharee’ah. So, you should supplicate for this effect and you should seek the help of some pious sisters or some trustworthy brothers to look for a pious husband for you.

It should be noted that it is permissible for a woman to seek a husband provided that she abides by the religious conditions in doing so as we clarified in Fatwa 82471.

Finally, it should be noted that it is permissible to supplicate against a transgressor even if he is a Muslim, but this is in case there is really injustice. However, being patient and not supplicating against the transgressor is better; Allaah Says (what means): {And to forego is nearer to righteousness.}[Quran 2:237] For more benefit, please refer to Fatwa 130288

Allaah Knows best.
