Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

It is only a believer who fears hypocrisy (for himself) and it is only a hypocrite who feels safe from it. We hope that fearing hypocrisy for yourself is evidence of your true faith.

Besides, what you mentioned is not evidence of hypocrisy, but if you like that the mark of prostration appears on your forehead so that people would say that you are a worshipper and subsequently praise you for that, then this is a sign of showing off and loving to be well-known and famous, so you must repent from this.

Nonetheless, if the reason that led you to wishing to have the mark which is mentioned is the saying of Allaah (which means): {Their mark [i.e. sign] is on their faces [i.e. foreheads] from the trace of prostration.} [Quran 48:29]; then the scholars stated that it does not mean the mark that is in the forehead. Ibn Katheer said about its interpretation: “It refers to graceful appearance, and Mujaahid and many others said: “It means reverence and humbleness. Mansoor quoted Mujaahid as saying: {Their mark [i.e. sign] is on their faces [i.e. foreheads] from the trace of prostration.} means reverence. I (Mansoor) said: I thought it only refers to the mark that is on the forehead. He said: “It might be that this mark is between the eyes of a person whose heart is harder than the heart of Pharaoh.”

Allaah Knows best.
