Aslaam-o-Alaikum Is having high sexual drive or urges gift/blessing from ALLAH? I heard from somebody that the ones who have such feelings should be thankful to ALLAH because not everyone has this kind of blessings. Can you please verify that statement? Jazakallahu khyran

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

Having a strong sexual drive is desirable as it is an indication of the completeness of manliness and virility. This is a blessing from Allaah to His slave. Channeling this drive into lawful outlets and being cautious of channeling it into unlawful ones is the best means to express thankfulness to Allaah for this blessing. Abu Tharr narrated that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said: “… and in a man's sexual intercourse (with his wife) there is a reward.” They (the Companions) exclaimed,  “O Messenger of Allaah, is there reward for one among us who satisfies his sexual desire?” He, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said, “You see, if he were to satisfy it with something forbidden, would it not be a sin on his part? Likewise, if he were to satisfy it lawfully, he is rewarded.” [Muslim]
