Fears that she made fun of Islam

Question

Assalaamu alaykum. I would like to ask whether joking in the following way equals making fun of islam. If I were to relate to my friends of my past experience at a hospital where I was afraid of a needle and tell them that when the nurse brought a syringe to give me an injection, I started to pronounce, I testify that nothing is worthy of worship but Allaah and so on. Then I tell them that I did not say the shahadah (testimony of fait) but just made dhikr (expressions of remembrance of Allaah) to Allaah (and that's the truth). Then I continue telling my friends that when a doctor came and asked me what happened? I said to the doctor, 'Certainly, to Allaah we belong, and to Him will be our return.' Then I tell my friends that those were only jokes. Is this kind of joking considered mocking Islam because of my use of the shahadah and a verse from the Quran? My intention is only to make fun of myself. Please advise, and correct me from the wrong. May Allaah reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ʻalayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

Nothing of what you mentioned is considered making fun of Islam at all. In fact, it is feared that your question is a sort of waswaas (obsessive whisperings). The best remedy for waswaas is to totally ignore it, refrain from indulging in thinking or asking about it, and implore Allaah to make you safe from it.

Allaah knows best.
