Question

I am a married woman and I have four daughters and one son. I have a problem with my son. He is six years old. His name is Maalik and he is in the preparatory grade in a good school. He is skillful and has memorized 12 Surahs of the part number thirty of the Noble Quran. The problem is that he always uses violence with his sisters and intentionally causes us many different troubles. Actually, he fell down many times on his head when he was very young. My question is: Can he be envied for he has many distinguishing qualities and attracts the attention? Please, could you answer me for he sometimes makes me lose my mind?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

We ask Allaah The Almighty to Keep us and you firm on obeying Him.

You have to know that the evil eye and envy are real and can afflict anyone, especially if he is a young child and attracts the attention or has many distinguishing attributes, or does not give enough attention to the recommended Athkaar, invocations and the like.

Accordingly, we advice you to adhere very strictly to the Athkaar of the morning, evening, entering and leaving home, sleeping and eating. You should also teach your child as much as possible of these Athkaar.

Moreover, we advice you to perform Ruqyah for your son if you have doubts that your son was afflicted by an evil eye and envy.

As for the Sharee‘ah-approved Ruqyah, it should be by reciting Al-Faatihah, the Verse of Al-Kursi, the final verses of the Surah of Al-Baqarah, and the Surah of Al-Ikhlaas and Al-Mu‘awwithataan. Also by reading the reported invocations and the supplications such as: “Bismillaahi arqeek min kulli shay’in yu’theek, min sharri kulli nafsin w ‘ayni haasid Allaahu yashfeek, Bismillaahi arqeek (In the Name of Allaah, I perform Ruqyah for you, from everything that is harming you, from the evil of every soul or envious eye May Allaah Heal you, in the Name of Allaah I perform Ruqyah for you)”, and other such verses and Hadeeths.

Allaah Knows best.
