Question

asalamualaikum I have a question regarding business. My brothers currently own a grocery business in which they sell Haram products. My question is, I have found a business in which I will be selling and installing stereos and speakers and possibly selling cd's is that haram or should I just find another Halal job? Thank u wa jazakum allah khair

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

We ask Allah to bestow His blessings on you and grant you from His Benefits. We ask Allah also to give you the strength to stay on the right path doing the good and avoiding the evil.
It is obvious to you that most people use tape-recorders, radios, loudspeakers, TVs, Videos, etc. in the Haram (forbidden acts) and in indecent acts that anger Allah, The Lord of the Worlds.
So, anything that can be taken as an excuse for Haram is Haram.
It is then, unlawful for you to work in such a job unless you know for yourself that you would not carry out any of this work except for those who will use it only in Halal. Allah says: {…. Help you one another in Al Birr and AtTaqwa (virtue, righteousness and piety); but do not help one another in sin and transgression} [5:2].
Anyway, we think that you should look for a work free of any suspicious acts.
Allah knows best
