The Promise Given to the Muhaajiroon (Emigrants)

Monday 29/03/2010

Allah The Almighty made mention of some of the blessings He promised to bestow upon the Muhaajiroon in this world as well as in the Hereafter. Those blessings include:

1.     Making abundant their sustenance in this world

In this respect, Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {And whoever emigrates for the cause of Allah will find on the earth many [alternative] locations and abundance. And whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger and then death overtakes him - his reward has already become incumbent upon Allah. And Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful.} [Quran 4:100]

This abundant sustenance bestowed by Allah The Almighty upon them in this world seemed apparent in the fact that He assigned to them the property of war spoils and that gained through Fai’ (booty taken without fighting). Such property was assigned to them because they were driven out of their homes – and this made them the most entitled to have it.

2.     Removing their misdeeds and forgiving their sins

Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {And their Lord responded to them, “Never will I allow to be lost the work of [any] worker among you, whether male or female; you are of one another. So those who emigrated or were evicted from their homes or were harmed in My cause or fought or were killed - I will surely remove from them their misdeeds, and I will surely admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow as reward from Allah , and Allah has with Him the best reward.”} [Quran 3:195]

Many Hadeeths were narrated from the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) in which he clarified that emigration is among the greatest ways to remove misdeeds and forgive sins.

3.     The high position and great rank they had in the sight of their   Lord

Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the Sight of Allah . And it is those who are the attainers [of success].} [Quran 9:20]

Those who attained the greatness of emigration and striving in the Cause of Allah The Almighty with their wealth and lives, are higher in rank and more honored than those who did not take part in that, wherever they might have been. Even those who were responsible for providing the pilgrims with water and for the maintenance of Al-Masjid Al-Haraam are excluded from this honorable position.

4.     Giving them the good tidings of being admitted into Paradise and abiding therein forever

Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the Cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the Sight of Allah. And it is those who are the attainers [of success]. Their Lord gives them good tidings of mercy from Him and approval and of gardens for them wherein is enduring pleasure. [They will be] abiding therein forever. Indeed, Allah has with Him a great reward.} [Quran 9:20-22]

These are some of the rewards that Allah The Almighty promised to bestow upon the Muhaajiroon because of their great striving. With their well-established belief and sincere assurance (of faith), the Muhaajiroon frustrated Jaahiliyyah (pre-Islamic ignorance) in Makkah to bury alive the Da‘wah (call) in its early beginnings. They persisted in all that was revealed to their Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). Moreover, the foolishness of the Quraysh only made them more eager to hold fast to the guidance they received and believed in. However, when Jaahiliyyah exceeded the due limits of opposing them, they were entitled to the favors that Allah The Almighty bestowed upon them in this world, and the great reward He prepared for them on the Day of Judgment.
