The Jews Attack The Supreme Being of Allah

Monday 29/03/2010

Many historians who specialize in prophetic biography and scholars of Quranic exegesis mentioned that Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, entered Bayt Al-Madaaris (the place where the Jews would study the Torah) and found many of them gathering around someone called Finhaas, who was one of their scholars and rabbis, and who was with someone called Ashya’.

Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said to Finhaas, “Woe to you, fear Allah. By Allah, you know that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah who came with the truth from Allah. You can find this in your Torah and Gospel.” Finhaas said to Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, “By Allah, O Abu Bakr, we are not in need of Allah; it is He who is in need of us. We do not invoke Him as He invokes us. We are rich and He is not, for had He been rich, He would not have borrowed our property as your Prophet claims. He forbids you from Riba [usury, interest], and permits us to deal in it. If He had been rich, He would not have permitted us to deal in Riba”.

Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, became incensed. He struck the face of Finhaas and said, “By the One in whose Hands my soul is, had it not been for the covenant between us and you, I would have smashed your head in, O enemy of Allah.” Finhaas, accordingly, went to the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and said, “O Muhammad, look at what your Companion did to me!” The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “What drove you to do so, O Abu Bakr?” Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, replied, “This enemy of Allah said a grave statement: he claimed that Allah The Almighty is in need of them and that they are rich. When he said so, I became angry for the sake of Allah and struck his face.” Finhaas denied this, saying, “I did not say so”; consequently, Allah The Almighty revealed verses concerning this incident where He Says (what means): {Allah has certainly heard the statement of those [Jews] who said, “Indeed, Allah is poor, while we are rich.” We will record what they said and their killing of the prophets without right and will say, “Taste the punishment of the burning Hell.”} [Quran 3:181] A verse was revealed concerning Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, in which Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {You will surely be tested in your possessions and in yourselves. And you will surely hear from those who were given the Book before you and from those who associate others with Allah much abuse. But if you are patient and fear Allah - indeed, that is of the matters [worthy] of determination.} [Quran 3:186]

In many verses of the Quran, Allah The Almighty mentions their rudeness with Allah, not exalting Him above defects and describing Him with improper attributes. This indicates extreme insolence and a total absence of respect. One such verse is the one in which Allah The Almighty Says (what means): {And the Jews say, “The Hand of Allah is chained.” Chained are their hands, and cursed are they for what they say. Rather, both His Hands are extended; He spends however He Wills. And that which has been revealed to you from your Lord will surely increase many of them in transgression and disbelief. And We have cast among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. Every time they kindled the fire of war [against you], Allah extinguished it. And they strive throughout the land [causing] corruption, and Allah does not like corrupters.} [Quran 5:64]

It is clear from the content of this verse that the stance that they adopted sprang from the hatred and infuriation which filled their hearts because of the spread of the Da‘wah (call) of the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and his firm establishment. They also had this feeling because the Muslims abandoned or boycotted them because of their malicious stances and denial and as a response to the orders, prohibitions and warnings of the Quran. This attitude of the Muslims badly affected their economic state. This further increased their dissatisfaction, rage and annoyance, and led them to be insolent to Allah The Almighty and rudely retort the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ).
