Umm Habeebah bint Abi Sufyaan:Her name, may Allah be pleased with her, was Ramlah bint Sakhr ibn Umayyah, the daughter of Abu Sufyaan, may Allah be pleased with him, and the sister of Mu’aawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him. She, may Allah be pleased with her, immigrated with her husband ‘Ubaydullaah bin Jahsh to Abyssinia where she delivered her daughter Habeebah; however, her husband then apostatised, converted to Christianity and died as such.

She, may Allah be pleased with her, remained in Abyssinia until the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), requested An-Najaashi, the King of Abyssinia who had embraced Islam, to propose to her on his behalf, which An-Najaashi did. He himself paid her dowry of four hundred Deenar (gold coins), on behalf of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ). Her guardian during the marriage ceremony was her maternal cousin ‘Uthmaan bin ‘Affaan, may Allah be pleased with him.

After that, the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), sent Sharhabeel bin Hasnah, may Allah be pleased with him, to bring her, may Allah be pleased with her, to him. The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), married her in the year 6 A.H., and she, may Allah be pleased with her, passed away in 40 A.H.

She was distinguished because:

-      She, may Allah be pleased with her, honoured the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), so much that she refused to allow her own father to sit on a mat that was for the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), because he was a disbeliever at the time.

Safiyyah bint Huyayy:Her complete name, may Allah be pleased with her, was Safiyyah bint Huyayy ibn Sa’eed ibn Al-Khazraj ibn Yanhoom ibn Israa’ee,from the descendants of Prophet Haaroon (Aaron), the brother of Prophet Moosaa (Moses), may Allah exalt their mention. She, may Allah be pleased with her, was married to the Jewish poet Abdus-Salaam bin Mashkam, then to another Jewish poet named Kinaanah bin Abi Al-Haqeeq who was killed on the day of the battle of Khaybar. She, may Allah be pleased with her, was one of the captives, so the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), manumitted her and married her.

The Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), married her in the year 7 A.H., and she, may Allah be pleased with her, died during the caliphate of Mu’aawiyah, may Allah be pleased with him,in the month of Ramadan in50 A.H.

She was distinguished because:

-      Once Hafsah, may Allah be pleased with her, said to her in a moment of anger, “Your father is a Jew!” So, she, may Allah be pleased with her, started to cry and the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), entered upon her whilst she was in that condition. He, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), inquired as to the reason for her weeping. When she recounted what had happened, the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), said to her: “You are the daughter (descendant) of a Prophet (Haaroon, may Allah exalt his mention), and your uncle is a Prophet (Moosaa, may Allah exalt his mention) and you are the wife of a Prophet; so what does she have that she can boast about?” [At-Tirmithi]

Maymoonah bint Al-Haarith:Her full name, may Allah be pleased with her, was Maymoonah bint Al-Haarith ibn Hazn ibn Hawaazin ibn Qays ibn ‘Adnaan. She, may Allah be pleased with her, was the maternal aunt of ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Abbaas and Khaalid bin Al-Waleed, may Allah be pleased with them, and was previously married to Abu Rahm ‘Abdul-‘Uzzaa Al-‘Aamiri Al-Qurashi.

She, may Allah be pleased with her, was the last wife of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ), who married her in the year 7 A.H. in the area of Sarf, which is seven miles from Makkah. This was where she passed away later, in 51 A.H. ‘Abdullaah bin ‘Abbaas, may Allah be pleased with him, was the one to lead her funeral prayer.

She was distinguished because:

-      She was the last one on whom the honour of becoming a wife of the Prophet, sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) was bestowed.
