Fatwa No: 336700

Question

Is the following hadith authentic?
The Prophet, sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam, is reported to have said, “Verily the people of Jannah (Paradise) will be young, beardless, and hairless (i.e. they will have no hair under the arms and below the navel). They will have the height of Adam, peace be upon him, the age of Jesus (i.e. 33 years), peace be upon him, they will be fair in colour and will wear green clothes…” (Tanbeeh Al-Ghaafileen, pg 37)
Is this authentic?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

This hadeeth was mentioned by As-Samarqandi in Tanbeeh Al-Ghaafileen without mentioning its chain of narrators, but there are other various texts that support it.

The length of the people of Paradise is confirmed in the hadeeth in which the Prophet said:

Allah created Aadam (Adam) sixty cubits tall, and upon creating him, He said to him, 'Go and greet that group of angels and listen to what they will greet you with, for it will be your greeting and the greeting of your offspring.' He said, 'Assalaamu alaykum (Peace be upon you).' They (the angels) said, 'Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullah (Peace be upon you and the Mercy of Allah).' They added 'and the Mercy of Allah.' So everyone who enters Paradise will have the form of Aadam…” [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

As regards the color of their clothes, it is confirmed that Allah says (what means): {Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade.} [Quran 76:21]

As regards them having a fair complexion, being beardless, and their age, there is the saying of the Prophet who said, “The people of Paradise will enter Paradise without any hair on their body, beardless, with a fair complexion and curly hair, having kohl (collyrium) in their eyes, aged thirty-three years, and they will be in the form of Aadam, sixty cubits tall.” [Ahmad - Al-Albaani graded it hasan (good)]

Allah knows best.
