Question

In the Hadith pertaining to the Dajjal and signs of judgement day where it mentions about ten horsemen who will go for the Dajjal and another one that talks about how the Muslim army will defeat the Romans at the end and hang their swords by the olive trees. My question is: how authentic is this Hadith because as you know that we don't use any swords nowadays. There are nuclear weapons, atomic weapons, missile guided bombs to the nearest pinpoint accuracy and the Hadith is talking about swords, this makes me wonder if this was a saying of the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) or not. These 2 Hadith are mentioned in Saheeh Muslim, (Kitab al-Fitan). Can you please clarify in a logical way?

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions. The Hadith referred to in the question is an authentic one narrated by Muslim in "Kitab Al-Fitan" (the Book of Trials), as mentioned by the questioner. Sahih Muslim is one of the books highly accepted by the Muslim Ummah (Nation), in addition to Saheeh al-Bukhari . Beside Muslim , this Hadith was narrated by Ibn Hibban in his 'Saheeh', and others. Such reports about future events are authentic and thus have to be accepted and believed in. they must not be questioned because of lack of conformity with today's reality since they the time when such events will take place is not defined. We can never know exactly the conditions which Allah The Almighty will prepare for such events. Maybe there will come a day when the common types of weapons known to us today disappear and people return to the old weapons instead. Allah knows best.
