Has strong desire to see Prophet in dream
Fatwa No: 87428

Question

Being a Muslim, like other Muslims, I have very strong desire to see Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). Is it possible for me to do so, if yes, is there any specific "Wazeefa" would be helpful in order to achieve this goal.

Answer

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds; and may His blessings and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad and upon all his Family and Companions.

Al Bukhari and Muslim reported from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) said: "Whoever sees me in his dream, he has seen me indeed, as Satan does not come in my image.  And anyone who lies deliberately on me should await his place in Hellfire."

So, if the Muslim sees the Messenger of Allah in his sleep with his (the Prophet’s (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam)) known characteristics in Sunnah, he has indeed seen him.

As for what to do in order to see him, this depends on the obedience of Allah and the degree of following His Prophet’s (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) Sunnah.  The more the person is pious and the more he follows the Sunnah, the more likely he will see the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in sleep.

But not seeing the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in dreams does not necessarily mean that such a person is not good.  Similarly being pious and good does not necessarily result in seeing the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in sleep.

This matter, in the end, is a grace and a favour that Allah bestows on some of His good slaves.

Allah knows best.
