The Prophet's Supplication for Abu Huthayfah bin Rabee‘ah

The Prophet

In a Hadeeth that was narrated by ‘Aa’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, concerning burying the dead of the Quraysh after the Battle of Badr was over, she said

When he [the Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention )] commanded that they should be dragged away, he noticed sadness on the face of Abu Huthayfah bin ‘Utbah. The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said to him: “O Abu Huthayfah, it is as if the matter of your father displeased you?” He replied, “O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I doubt neither Allah nor His Messenger. But, he [my father] was patient and of sound opinion. I was hoping that he would not die until Allah would guide him to Islam. When I saw that it was too late and he was killed, this displeased me.” The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) then supplicated to Allah for him to not be affected negatively by this.
