Question

Is there something called the last Waliyy of Allaah The Almighty as there is His last Messenger?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was the last messenger and Islam is the last religion. However, the Awliyaa' of Allaah The Almighty are not restricted to a certain time. Actually, the Waliyy is every pious believer.

Also, pious believers are found in all ages and will continue to be found almost up to the time of the Hour. When the Hour actually comes, there will only be evil people and none of them will remember the word “Allaah”. Therefore, goodness will not cease to exist among Muslims as long as they are on the earth. This is supported by the Hadeeth on the authority of Anas may Allaah be pleased with him where the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, said that his nation is like the rain for no one knows whether its beginning is better or its end (i.e. goodness is always in it). [Ahmad and At-Tirmithi]

However, it goes without saying that the best generations in this nation were those of the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them the Taabi‘is and their successors may Allaah have mercy upon them. The best Awliyaa' of Allaah The Almighty in this nation are the ten Companions may Allaah be pleased with them who were given the glad tidings of being among the dwellers of Paradise. Also, among them are the martyrs of Badr and those who pledged allegiance to the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, in Ar-Ridhwaan Pledge, and after them are all the Companions may Allaah be pleased with them in general, followed by the rest of the Muslims in order of devotion and piety.

Allaah Knows best.
