Exorcizing Jinn differs from one case to another

Question

Is it true that some people can exorcize Jinn out of other people? Is this founded in religion?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

It is possible for humans to become possessed by Jinn, as supported by the Sharee‘ah; Allaah Says (what means): {Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity.} [Quran 2:275]

Indeed, there are many people who are possessed by jinn. Jinni can be exorcized out of a person’s body by reciting a lawful Ruqyah and Prophetic Athkaar which affect Jinn. However the effect differs according to different conditions, verses and the Ruqyah performer and receiver.

Also be aware that there may be sorcerers among those who perform Ruqyah for treatment, and there may be others who do not observe the criteria for undertaking lawful Ruqyah.

Allaah Knows best.
