Begging or giving charity after Thuhr or `Asr

Question

Dear Sir, Is there any hadith with regard to begging and giving alms after Zohr or after Asr. Here we have the belief that begging and giving alms after Zohr or Asr is not allowed according to our Sharia. Please comment.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

We have already issued Fataawa 85667 and 87527 about the ruling of begging and the conditions for its permissibility.

As regards giving charity after Thuhr or after ‘Asr, it is permissible, and we are not aware of any religious evidence which prohibits giving charity at these times. Similarly, if a person is permitted to beg, we do not know any evidence which prohibits him from doing so after Thuhr or after ‘Asr. Whoever prohibits this, he should bring forward the evidence.

Allaah Knows best.
