Ruling on wrapping a piece of cloth around an injury in the leg

Question

I had a car accident in Saudi Arabia and a plate was implanted in the right thigh and a part of the right leg muscle was cut or removed. The wound would be exposed if uncovered. Is it permissible to cover the wound at the end of the leg with a bandage or muslin that are used in surgeries while performing the Hajj rites as I do not like people to pity me. Please advise. May Allaah Reward you.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and Messenger.

There is no harm in wrapping a piece of cloth around the wound that is in your leg and you will not have to offer a Fidyah for this as this is not among the prohibitions of Ihraam.

An-Nawawi may Allaah have mercy upon him said, "The Shaafi‘i shcolars said that if the one who is in the state of Ihraam had a wound and wrapped a piece of cloth around it and this was not in his head, he would not be responsible for a Fidyah. However, if this wound was in his head, he should give a Fidyah because it is prohibited to wear any thing in the head, be it form fitting cloth or not, but he will not be held sinful because he has an excuse."

Allaah Knows best.
