A Shaykh giving letters for protection from Jinn

Question

Assalamu Alaikum, First of all I would like to pay thanks to Allah the Almighty who has showed me this site islamweb.net which, has been changing my life with lots of Islamic knowledge and making me steadfast in the way of Allah. Dear Sheikh, I have a question. Herein India, i know one sheikh who also does Ruqya Sharaiyya to treat the people who are possesed by Jinn or effected by the magic. I have seen him giving a letter to one of his patients to keep it below the head while sleeping in the night and hang it to the wall during the day time. The letter was written in an Arabic Text. I asked him about the proof whether this act is according to shariyya or not. He replied, this is proved in a Hadith. Once upon a time a Companion of our Prophet (SA W) came to him and complaint about the Jinns who are troubling him in his home and asked a solution on this matter. Then, Muhammad (S A W) wrote a letter to Jinns and gave it to the companion to keep it in a home as a result if these jinnss are stubborn and not leaving home then they will be burnt by the will of Allah. Finally, all jinns were burnt. So, also this sheikh gives the same format of letter, which was written by Muhammad (S A W) and he says, this letter gives torture to the jinns, who entered home.Whether, they entered willing or by any Magician. Please give me the details of the narration of this Hadith and meaning of that letter in english? Can we write a letter to Jinn to leave our home by our own format? For information about the letter it is ending with the last line saying FASAYAK FI KAHUMULLAH WAHUWAS SAMEE UL ALEEM. 2. Another question, After doing Ruqya when we blow on the water and Oil for seeking SHIFA. If we apply the oil on hair and body and at the time of taking shower in the morning. Obviously, the applied oil would be drained. So, please clarify will it be consider as a BAYHURMATI of that charmed and blessed oil, which is drained ? Your quick reply would be appreciatable. Jazakalla

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

There was a lengthy Hadeeth narrated in this regard, and we apologize for not mentioning it fully here. It is enough for you to know that the Hadeeth was narrated by Al-Bayhaqi may Allaah have mercy upon him in “Dalaa’il An-Nubuwwah”, and the author commented on it, saying, "A fabricated Hadeeth was narrated on the story of the amulet given to Abu Dujaanah, and it is not permissible to narrate this Hadeeth." Al-Bayhaqi may Allaah have mercy upon him narrated this Hadeeth only to show its grade. Ath-Thahabi may Allaah have mercy upon him said, "The story of Abu Dujaanah's amulet is fabricated."

Muslim jurists agreed that it is not permissible for the Muslim to hang an amulet, which contains polytheistic types of Ruqyah, but they differed about its ruling in case it contains verses from the Quran or the legislated Thikr and supplications. The preponderant opinion in this regard is that it is not permissible to hang such amulets. Alternatively, it is safer to recite some Quranic verses, particularly Surah Al-Baqarah, and some legislated mention of Allaah. For further information, see Fataawa 13249, 82918 and 88660.

On the other hand, texts of Sharee‘ah stress the importance of guarding the Words of Allaah The Almighty against the places of filth. Allaah The Almighty Says (what means): {That [is so]. And whoever honors the Symbols of Allaah - indeed, it is from the piety of hearts.}[Quran 22:32] Therefore, it is not permissible to wash the oil, on which Quranic verses were recited, in a way that some of it is thrown in (filthy) places where the Quran must be kept away from. For further information, see Fatwa 91876.

Allaah Knows best.
