When to start making Tasleem after Imaam

Question

This brother says his first salamah (after a salaah) immediately after the Imaam's first salamah and after the Imaam says his second Salaamah, he says his. Is this the right as different from we that wait for the Imaam's completion of the two before we start ours?

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is permissible for one to make the first Tasleem after the first Tasleem of the Imaam and the second Tasleem after the second Tasleem of the Imaam because he would still be following the Imaam. However, waiting until the Imaam finishes the second Tasleem is preferable. For more benefit, refer to Fatwa 120581.
