You are not to blame for the traffic fine of your colleague

Question

Salam 3alaykom,
A car parked infront of the company I work for and its blocking the way since morning. The driver of our company asked me to call the police to come and give the car a ticket for blocking the enterance of the company. I asked him, did you ask whos car is this, he said I even asked the neighboring comapnies, and no 1 owns this car. I called the police and they came and gave him a fine 500 Qatari Riyals and 3 points on his driver's licance. when I went back to the office I knew that the car is for an employee working in our company and I had an argument with him and shouted at eachother. I feel guilty I did this, but he parked very wrong and the driver told me he asked. From an islamic view shall I pay the fine for him and put the points on my licance or he has to learn his lesson and not park like that again? He is a muslim and I dont want hard feelings with muslims. Judge between us may ALLAH be pleased with you.
Fee aman ALLAH,
Salam 3alaykom wa ra7mat ALLAH wa barakatuh.

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) is His slave and Messenger.

It is the owner of the car who bears the responsibility for the mistake as he is the one who parked it in the wrong place and this could have led to harming others because it blocked the entrance of the company. Traffic laws are an administrative system that regulates the matters of the people, protects their interests, money and honor, so, one should abide by them.

Therefore, you are not obliged to bear the fine of your friend, but if you wish to help him in paying it as a donation and an act of kindness from you, then this is permissible as this maintains love in the hearts and strengthens the friendly relationships.

Allaah Knows best.
