Accepted Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

The issue of whether or not the dead can hear the living or feel their grief or happiness is related to the Unseen. It is not permissible to engage in discussions about the Unseen except for matters that are mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah, as clarified in Fataawa 83719 and 85809.
