Obstinate to deny magic

Question

I heard a religious show host reporting a Hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, where it is mentioned that no one who believes what magicians say will enter Paradise. How could it be so when magic was worked on the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, himself?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His slave and messenger.

Magic is a reality and whoever denies it is thus, denying texts from the Quran and Sunnah. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, himself was bewitched as clarified in Fatwa ">92213. However, there is no contradiction between the fact that magic exists and that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, was bewitched and the fact that magic is one of the ways that lead to disbelief. Also, whoever goes to a soothsayer or a diviner and believes what he says becomes a disbeliever as mentioned in the Hadeeth of the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Allaah Knows best.
