Question
Assalamu Alaikum, Before conquest of Mecca, why did the Prophet(pbuh) and companions did umrah while idols were still inside kabah?
Answer
All perfect praise be to Allaah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad 
is His slave and Messenger.
The existence of idols inside the Ka’bah or around it is not an obstacle that prevents the validity of the ‘Umrah, especially at that time when the Companions 
were not able to destroy them as Makkah was then under the control of the disbelievers of Quraysh.
Since the Prophet performed ‘Umrah and made Tawaaf and Sa’y (under those circumstances), then this is evidence that it is permissible and so, it is not polite to ask why the Prophet did it.
