The prime assets of a caller to Islam: Being a good example and having Islamic morals

Question

I am a university student and would like to know how I can invite other students to Allaah the Almighty. What are the means that may help me in doing this?

Answer

All perfect praise be to Allaah, the Lord of the worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allaah, and that Muhammad, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, is His Slave and Messenger.

It is a true honor to be a Muslim and to call others to Islam. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means): {And who is better in speech than one who invites to Allaah and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."} [Quran 41:33]

Allaah the Almighty ordered the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, and all of his followers to call others to His Path with insight. Allaah the Almighty Says (what means): {Say, "This is my way; I invite to Allaah with insight, I and those who follow me.} [Quran 12:33] The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, told `Ali ibn Abi Taalib may Allaah be pleased with him that being the cause through which Allaah guides a single person to Islam would be more beneficial to a Muslim than receiving a huge fortune. [Al-Bukhari]

Da‘wah (calling) to Allaah the Almighty can be practiced through any means He indicated, such as teaching Muslims the obligations of their religion, guiding and advising them about what is beneficial for their faith and their lives, and explaining to non-Muslims the merits of Islam, how it reforms both the individual and the society and that it is the reason for happiness in this world and in the Hereafter.

One of the most important means of Da‘wah is when the one calling to Allaah personally adopts the morals of Islam and sets an example for others to followed. Da‘wah through practice and personal application is always more effective than Da‘wah by words. Islam spread widely in many Islamic and non-Islamic lands through devoted traders and immigrants, as was observed in East Asia and Africa.

Da‘wah nowadays needs sincere youth who dedicate themselves to Allaah the Almighty, sacrifice everything precious for the sake of Da‘wah and exert their utmost efforts to explain the teachings of Islam and save the Muslim Nation from the current rampant religious ignorance and submission to the enemies of Allaah the Exalted.

In short, you should invite others to Allaah the Almighty with wisdom and gentle advice, and debate with others in a kind manner. You should also explain to young Muslims the obligations that Allaah the Almighty requires of them towards their religion and their Nation, and explain to them and to non-Muslim alike the merits of Islam and how they can achieve happiness in the this life and the Hereafter.

Allaah Knows best.
